Train like Fosti
LHV Women's Run is expected to attract over ten thousand participants again this year. To ensure that training goes smoothly and leads to a finish line with a smile, the recent champion, Roman Fosti, has prepared a training plan. The medals for Estonia's largest women's running event this year are inspired by the spring cherry blossoms.
"Runners are back on the track," expressed LHV Women's Run chief organizer, Mati Lilliallik, with joy. The spring event, taking place on May 18th at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, promises to bring together well over ten thousand sports enthusiasts.
At LHV Women's Run, women and girls can participate in a 7-kilometer route, either by running, walking, or Nordic walking. Participants can choose between timed or untimed categories. The running and walking paths lead through the scenic roads and trails around the Song Festival Grounds and Maarjamäe. The event will also feature the traditional spring concert and a health fair at the festival grounds.
From the beginning of May until the day of the LHV Women's Run (May 1–18), there will also be a virtual children’s race and combo run, which is suitable for all fitness enthusiasts. For the combo, participants must complete a half marathon (21 km) over 18 days by walking or running in sections, on a route of their choice, until the full distance is reached. The virtual race serves as excellent motivation and training ahead of the main event at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds.
The participation medals, cast from recycled metals, are this year adorned with cherry blossoms, whose delicate petals have inspired artists and poets for centuries. According to Priit Verlin, Estonia's most renowned medal designer and the creator of the LHV Women's Run medals, the cherry blossom symbolizes feminine beauty and purity, making it a perfect fit for the medal awarded to all who complete the run this year.
One of Estonia's best long-distance runners, Roman Fosti, has developed a training plan for the LHV Women's Run for those who are more dedicated beginners or intermediate runners. With this plan, it becomes easier to stay motivated to train and finish with a smile.
LHV Women's Run is the largest women’s health and fitness event in Estonia, with over 200,000 dedicated women having participated over the course of 35 years. The first run was held in 1988.
