For actress Kaisa Selde, who recently became a certified trainer, the Women's Run is a traditional and somewhat nostalgic event that she has completed together with her mother, Karin. Although there has been a pause in their participation over the years, this year the mother-daughter duo is back on the LHV Women's Run course.

You have recently become a personal trainer. But why running?

For me, running is a meditative activity—it’s time for myself, where I can’t do anything else. Once, when I used to run ten kilometers every morning, the first three kilometers were always very difficult. My mind would be racing, plus there was that voice in my head saying, “Go home, enough already.” Running is a constant self-overcoming, and who doesn’t like to win?

How do you start running?

You have to start in small steps. For your first workout, give yourself half an hour, where you run for one minute and walk for one minute, then run again, and so on. With each subsequent workout, you can add even just one second to your running time. This way, you’ll also start to feel, “Oh, how nice it is to run!” Soon you’ll be running for an hour straight.

You have long-term experience with the Women's Run. What’s that like?

I have very warm feelings associated with the run. In the past, my mother and I participated every year; I would run the children’s race while my mother took on the main distance. The feeling of togetherness and the good energy that prevails there is still fresh in my memory.
