The new name of the largest sporting event in Ida-Virumaa is Narva City Run
The Narva City Run will take place on June 9–10, continuing the ten-year tradition of the Energy Run. The large-scale active event, which will be held as part of the Year of Movement 2023, is expected to attract five thousand participants.
According to the Mayor of Narva, Katri Raik, the goal of the Narva City Run is to encourage the residents of the region to actively spend their leisure time and increase the visibility of Ida-Virumaa in the Estonian cultural and sports landscape. “2023 has been declared the Year of Movement in Estonia. In Ida-Virumaa we will celebrate it with the Narva City Run, which will be attended by 5,000 people. I invite all Estonians to discover the largest city in Ida-Virumaa and take part in the cultural and sports program of the Narva City Run. I intend to enjoy the atmosphere as much as possible and walk the five-kilometre distance,” the mayor promised to set a personal example at the Narva City Run.
The picturesque route of the most popular sporting event in Ida-Virumaa, which runs through a city of colourful history, will attract many participants not only from Narva and Ida-Virumaa, but also from all over Estonia and even from other countries.
The program of the Narva City Run will open on Friday, June 9, with a three-kilometre Welcome run along the river promenade, which will end on the renovated Town Hall Square. On Saturday, June 10, the program includes a 21.1-kilometre half-marathon, as well as a five-kilometre distance that everyone can cover by running or walking. In cooperation with the Estonian Athletics Association, Narva will also host the already traditional Estonian Half Marathon Championship, in which, along with numerous amateurs, the best Estonian long-distance runners will take part.
On both days, a grand cultural program with the participation of local bands and performers known throughout Estonia will be waiting next to the renovated Narva Town Hall.
