The Tallinn Marathon will once again paint the Estonian capital in blue-black-white

23.02.2023

On 24 February the Republic of Estonia will become 105 years old. The organisers of the Tallinn Marathon are planning to conduct Estonia’s biggest national sports event in a manner worthy of the anniversary year, motivating as top performers, so amateur runners and beginners to exercise.

The year 2023 is the year of movement, and everyone is invited to the biggest running and sports event in Estonia – even those who have not participated in it before. It is possible to participate either alone or with friends, choosing between running, walking or Nordic walking. There are suitable distances for everyone. The wish of the organisers is to pass the number of twenty thousand participants again and start aiming for the participation record. The current record was set in 2018 when the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia was celebrated – back then a total of 23,940 sports enthusiasts from 67 countries took part in the distances of the Tallinn Marathon and the Autumn Run.

This year's Tallinn Marathon is dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the country, and the mood of Estonia's biggest sports event will again be truly festive and inspiring, because the participants are expected to start in the blue-black-white clothes, just like during the anniversary celebrations in 2018.

The official running shirt of the Tallinn Marathon is once again in the national colours of Estonia, but it is still unique, being designed as a mirror image of the shirt from five years ago. The shirt, made by a special order from blue, black and white fabric, has waving colours of the Estonian flag falling from right to left, and the Tallinn Marathon logo on the right chest.

Pre-sale of the shirts in national colours started today on the website www.jooks.ee. The price of a blue-black-white shirt is 29.90 euros. A child’s shirt costs 14.95 euros. Proceeds from shirt sales will be used to support promising young athletes through the Estonian Running Support Fund.

Participants of the marathon distance will receive a blue-black-white running shirt for free. Those who register for the half marathon, the 10-km Rimi Autumn Run and the virtual Marathon Combo will be able to purchase a shirt in national colours at half price.

The unique shirt can also be bought by those who do not wish to participate in the running event, but perhaps plan to cheer for the runners along the track. What a great view it would be if not only the runners, but also the spectators were dressed in blue-black-white and supported the runners by waving national flags!

The three-day program of the Tallinn Marathon, which includes both top runners and thousands of amateurs, begins on Friday, 8 September, with the five-kilometre Nike Youth Run, continues on Saturday, 9 September, with the 21.1-kilometre half-marathon and the 10-kilometre RIMI Autumn Run, and ends on Sunday, 10 September, with the classic marathon run (42.2 kilometres). The Limpa Kid’s Race and the virtual Marathon Combo, which has gained popularity among enthusiasts and will last throughout the month of September, are also planned.
