Tiidrek Nurme and Kaisa Kukk are the winners of Narva Energy Run

Tiidrek Nurme and Kaisa Kukk won Narva Energy Run that took place for the tenth time, also emerging as Estonian Half-Marathon Champions. Nearly four thousand recreational athletes took part in Ida-Viru County’s largest public sports event.

Tiidrek Nurme, representing the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club and finishing at 1:05.48, won the 21.1 kilometer distance at Narva Energy Run held today, becoming the Estonian Champion in Half Marathon. Second place and the silver medal at the Estonian Championships went to Kaur Kivistik (1:06.23) with Tartu Spordiselts Kalev sports club who finished 14 seconds before Roman Fost (1:06.37) with Sparta Spordiselts sports club who received the bronze medal at the Estonian Championships. Fost’s club mate Leonid Latsepov (1:06.43) came in fourth with only six seconds behind third place.


 
Among women, Kaisa Kukk from Tartu Spordiselts Kalev sports club emerged as the fastest in the half marathon, becoming the Estonian Champion at 1:19.30. Second place and the silver medal at the Estonian Championships were won by Pille Hinn (1:20.49) with Sparta Spordiselts sports club, while third place and the bronze medal at the Estonian Half Marathon Championships went to Kadiliis Kuiv (1:22.46) from sports club Spordiklubi Prorunner.


 
The fastest man on the five-kilometer track was Denis Šalkauskas from the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club who completed the race in in exactly 16 minutes, while Kristel Vallaste (20.59) with Jooksupartner sports club ran the fastest among women.


 
Nearly a thousand young running enthusiasts took part in Limpa Kids Races in the Castle Park in front of Hermann Castle. The sportive day drew to its close with a sassy concert by Stefan, Estonia’s representative in the Eurovision Song Contest final. Almost four thousand recreational athletes got their exercise on in one way or another at the tenth Narva Energy Run.
 


Narva Energy Run is an event established on the initiative of the energy company Eesti Energia, the City of Narva, the Republic of Estonia Ministry of Culture, and the Sport Event Team (MTÜ Spordiürituste Korraldamise Klubi) with the objective of encouraging people to engage in fitness sports and increasing the importance of Ida-Viru County in the Estonian cultural and sports landscape. Narva Energy Run is also the fourth stage of Estonia's largest recreational sports series RIMI Urban Races (RIMI Eesti Linnajooksud).
